It seemed appropriate that our cover this month show one of the success stories from our region. The achievements of a company like Cedenco with its imminent listing on the Stock Exchange, proves that from small beginnings a seed can be planted in the fertile minds of enterprising people, to grow and flourish and to eventually produce an International enterprise we can all be proud of. Throughout the East Coast names such as Pultron, Cotterill and Rouse, Milton, Harvest Wines and Cedenco to name a few, have really put us on the world map. A sparsely populated provincial town "where the light first shines" has generated some spectacular successes which proves the old adage that big is not necessarily best. In the same spirit that New Zealand sportsmen and women triumph over countries with populations in the tens of millions, Poverty Bay/ East Coast region has produced people with a vision to give it a go. The Photo News hopes to capture that spirit and that of previously unrecognised citizens who contribute in many ways to our community.
