Bowling Green Renovations
One of the two bowling greens at the Riverside Women's Bowling Club, Disraeli Street, ' is at present being renovated in preparation for next season.
In charge of the job is the green superintendent, Mr H. E. Powell, who with the assistance of several willing helpers, has stripped the turf, relevelled, and resown the green. Aiding them in their work are two machines which Mr Powell designed and built) a turf cutter, and a patent grooving and milling machine that has changeable blades for rotary hoeing the earth for levelling, and grooving the earth for planting grass seed.
Cutting and lifting the turf are Mr A. Spellers and Mr Powell. Note how the turf lifts off like strips of carpet
