Final Match
The last match at Rugby Park for the 1960 season, played on a sultry Saturday last month, saw the visiting Harlequins defeat the local Olympians 12 to 8. The game was a memorial fixture to honour the memory of the former All Black trials and Poverty Bay forward, "Vestey" Thomas, who died in Hamilton earlier this year.
The teams lined up before the game. The referee was Mr C. R. Gillies, Waikato, and the Olympians, left to right are: Alan Rowlands, Colin Henderson, Kevin McGrannachan, Brian Clark, Hank Nyenhuis, Del Mackey, Brian McCarthy, Doug Fee, John Hata, David Green, Ross Nicholas, Tamati Reedy, David Hooper, Rangi Josephs, Brian Johnstone.
