Seen here on a pleasure trip in the Hauraki Gulf is Mrs F. G. Sharp, of 87 Lytton Road, Gisborne. Snap was taken while Mrs Sharp, a great-grandmother, was out with five of her grandchildren.
Mrs Sharp is a daughter of Captain Thomas U'Ren, the first white boy born in Gisborne.
Mr and Mrs J. W. Kane, of Gisborne. Mr Kane, who has been chief fire officer for the Gisborne district for many years, and a member of the fire brigade since 1908, is resigning his position as from August 1. Mrs Kane has left on an 8 month visit to Canada and the United Kingdom where she will visit a daughter living in Southampton. On her return, Mr and Mrs Kane will retire to Lower Hutt, where they will live in order to be closer to members of their family.
