Proud to promote Gisborne, its People and Business
Remember the old adage "you'll never meet anybody by staying at home" (family and best friends are the exception) Meeting new people, trying new delights, seeing old friends by chance, being entertained by the unexpected, etc., etc can only be found if you are out and about. And what better place to get out and about in than Gisborne despite winter having certainly shown its frosty nose into our social lives. Lives where warm coats and wet weather gear are necessary accessories in our wardrobes, to be pulled out when required but generally speaking, we in Gisborne have the mildest winters in New Zealand. Most sporting fixtures are played as scheduled, and social functions are usually organised in suitable venues. Every photograph in this magazine shows people involved in some organised activity and as you can see Gisborne is a very interesting and busy place which should not surprise any of you. I will always remember my 1st day in Gisborne when I came for a two week holiday in spring 1972 and I thought Gisborne was paradise. The holiday is ongoing and as the seasons change I still think Gisborne has that special mix of great people in a great place. I look forward to photographing the next issue of Photo News in which we plan to have an assortment of action photos as the winter stars have begun to shine.
