Marlin & Tuna Hunt

A gonising waits, marlin and tuna by the mile, great conditions and a successful "launch" of the new clubrooms at the NO 2 Wharfshed, were just some of the dramas which made up this annual contest. Two cars were up for grabs, a Ford Laser for the heaviest yellow fin over 55kgs and a Ford Futura for the biggest striped marlin over 150kgs thanks to superb sponsorship courtesy of Gisborne Motors Ford and Red Door Liquor Store. The action and excitement attracted a bumper crowd to the windup on the Sunday where these photos were taken.

Fishermen, family and friends were able to relax in the friendly open atmosphere of the No2 Shed at the wharf. The old clubrooms will still be used during the season. It is envisaged that the new clubrooms and the proposed new ramp in the inner harbour basin will serve as the Club Headquarters from September this year.
