What an October it has been! The 225th anniversary of Captain James Cook's first landing in this country, on the Kaiti foreshore, was a festive occasion which once again reminded us of the great part Poverty Bay plays in the history of New Zealand. The pomp and ceremony provided by a large military presence added to the spectacle of an event which is ours alone.
Even our representative rugby side gave us nationwide coverage as they played their way into the runners up position in the Air New Zealand National 3rd Division Championship. A wonderful team performance which brought pride back to the game in Poverty Bay.
The annual A&P Spring Show was a record equalling two days of town and country combining to emphasize their true capabilities in a wide range of activities. Those in the farming and business sectors here can foot it with anyone in New Zealand.
This month has been positively inspirational to us all on this special part of the East Coast we call home. Long may it continue.
