Gisborne became the hotspot for media attention last month. With the North Island Dog Trial Championships at Whangara, the All Black Trials and Opera Festival week, we were the talk of the country and deservedly so. The outstanding success of these three major events has given us the credibility we need to stage more in the future. The weather was superb, the spectators supportive and everything went without a hitch. Just shows what we can achieve if the city gets behind the organisers. Congratulations to all concerned.

It's a big welcome to Wairoa this month. In the course of photographing in Gisborne, we have come across many sports teams and Wairoa people competing or being involved in our district's activities. A large number travel up to Gisborne on a regular basis, so from now on we intend to include several pages of interest to the Wairoa Community. We have had a great response from the outlets who stock the Photo News, as far as advertising and sales are concerned, and we hope to continue our association with the friendly people of this "Southern Gateway to Eastland"
