THE ALTERNATIVE HAIR SHOW

An Alternative Hairshow was organised by the Poverty Bay Hair dressers Association this year instead of the usual competitions. Co-ordinated by Cherie Gaukrodger with the combined talents of 12 salons, 180 models provided a spectacular show for the 400 people who filled the Sandown Park Entertainment Centre. Such was the response and success of the show, the Association have plans for a Hairdressers Ball and Parade for 1994

With everyone dressed for that special wedding and looking like a million dollars the Split Enz team provided a glimpse of the wide variety of hair stylesrequired to suit every occassion.

Part of Razaar's team took the form of the TV cartoon comedy family The Simpsons featuring Trish as Marge, Chris as Homer, Rachel as Maggie and Marcus as the rascal, Bart, with the shanghai ready to create havoc.

With the idea of just having fun in mind the models of Lorraine's Kut & Kolor Salon dressed and acted accordingly.

Pele's "Cut 'n Style " emphasized the many styles from the 1920's girl, her escort through carefree leisure, the rugby boys and the cheerleaders. Camille Te Nahu sang "Under The Boardwalk" and for the two cheerleaders she sang "Stand By Me."

With a large cast made up entirely of children Headline Hair Design followed their theme of "The friendly hair salon." Each model reflected the styles that compliment our growing future.
