Our Cover

The woodgrained background sets off to advantage the roses on our Cover, this month. The hundreds of rose growers in the Gisborne area are, at present, lavishing care and attention on their plants, endeavouring to bring forth quality blooms at the right time for the Rose Show in November.

Back Cover . Picturesque Whanarua Bay, past Cape Runaway, in the Bay of Plenty, attracts many visitors from Gisborne during the summer with its beauty, boating and fishing. An area of land close to the bay has been set aside by its owners to be developed over the next few years as a tourist attraction. This will include a motor camp, restaurant and motels, all blending in and harmonising with the area.
