One Egg In One Basket
Or, more to the point, one bird in one cage — the easier to judge them, perhaps. Anyway, entries were pretty good in the annual Poverty Bay Poultry Show which was held in the Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Wool-store in Innes Street. The winning birds were of a good standard, particularly the best bird in the show,
A children's pet parade saw some cute entries and a wide variety of pets. The Turnwald family of Elm Street had a very successful day.
Best opposite sex was Mr Snow Wooster's Rhode Island Red pullet.
It is Mr S. J. Jarrett's Black Red cockerel Bantam.
Best homer in pigeon section of show went to Mr Des Hunter's hen bird
Mr Frank Martin's entry, which took best bird in flying classes
Alan won first prize in the bird section with his duck.
Martin took second prize with his pigeon.
Glen Turnwald took second prize in the animal section with his guinea pigs.
Winner of the animal section was Tina Couper with her beautiful tortoiseshell cat.
