Country tennis
The Patutahi Tennis Club held a very successful yankee tournament to mark the closing of its 1971-72 season. At the conclusion of the games the season's trophies were presented.
Senior competition winners were, from left, Marlene Tupara (ladies' doubles), Angelina Tupara (ladies' singles and doubles), Janet Galloway (runner-up ladies' singles), Geoff Robb (men's singles and doubles, and combined doubles), Phil Whakatau (runner-up singles), and Missy Hawea (combined doubles). Absent: Bill Hindmarsh (men's doubles).

The junior competition winners were, from left, in front, Stephen Brodie (boys' singles), Te Whare Tuhou (boys' doubles and combined doubles), Rangi Haenga (boys' doubles, runner-up singles) and, at back, Kay Pere (runner-up girls' singles), Mini Edwards (girls' doubles), Wheeti Haenga (girls' singles, combined doubles), and Francis Tupara (girls' doubles).
