Adopted Old Boy Visits School
Lion Made Honorary Old Boy
The Gisborne Boys' High School "adopted" Lions player Ray ("Chico") Hopkins while he was on his New Zealand tour with the British Isles team. While in Gisborne, Ray, and several other Lions team members, visited the school and addressed the boys at assembly. Ray was made an honorary old boy of the school and at the assembly was presented with a beautiful Maori carving inscribed with "He Tohu Aroha" which means that the gift was a token of esteem. After assembly the Lions players mingled and talked with the school's First XV.
