The Unobtrusive Servers
Members of the Red Cross go unobtrusively about their work helping those in need, such as hospital patients, and old folk in need of clothing and hot meals.
This, of course, brings to mind such services as meals-on-wheels, the shop and library on wheels for hospital patients, and the welfare clothing section.
All these services require cash of course and among those helping to count the recent collection were, from left, Patricia Monaghan (youngest member of the Red Cross Committee), Tina Milligan, June Wilson (newly appointed Junior Red Cross organiser), and Mary Alley.
The shop on wheels visits the hospital daily, with volunteers manning the service
The same applies to the library on wheels which goes round weekly.
The Red Cross also organises the blood donor week, when donations are taken for the blood bank
