Mercantile Golf
Unquenchable good spirits triumphed over the glum weather turned on for the Gisborne Park Golf Club's annual 27-hole mercantile tournament held on February 14. The course was busy with 120 players competing in the Leopard-sponsored contest.
Clad for the conditions is Ralph Whitfield (Motor Trade No. 2), one of the winners of the "twos".
Jack Adeane (Post Office) was a member of the winning team.
Roy Baker (Retailers), one of the team that was runner-up in the 9-hole Stableford.
Putting is a serious business for Tom Walker (Motor Trade No. 1).
John Boggs (Gisborne Panel Beaters), a member of the runner-up team.
Cheerful despite the rain are Tom Carlin and Buster Archer (Municipal Services) and Alan Hart and Pat Aylward (Plumbers).
