This convoy of trucks comprised four of the seven carrying storage tanks from the brewery out to Waihirere Wines at Ormond.
Of Canadian manufacture, the glass lined steel tanks, which have a capacity of 3,600 gallons each, were installed in the brewery over twenty years ago.
This type of tank is ideal for wine storage, particularly light table wines.
As these wines are low in alcoholic content the glass lining acts in the same way as a bottle thus giving the wine no chance to oxidise, which would spoil both the body and the taste.
