Art Exhibition
An exhibition of paintings by the well-known Gisborne artist S. L. Bugden attracted much attention when it was staged in the Art Gallery.
The exhibition contained 81 different works, done mainly in oils and water colours.
"Clamour", a water colour in modern style, was a striking work.
One of several impressive portraits was "Maori Girl", an oil priced at 8 gn.
Prior to the Art Society's preview evening, Mr Bugden arranged his pictures in the gallery."
A peaceful scene is depicted in "Boat Harbour, Turanganui".
The artist's interpretation of a familiar landmark, "Historic Headland".
