Pig Patter
An enormous 572lb pig, probably the largest ever killed at the Gisborne abattoirs, pictured with its owner, well-known Irish dairy farmer, Mr J. D. O'Grady, who has been farming at Makauri for 60 years.
A greased pig, which supplied plenty of thrills for the youngsters at the Waerenga-o-kuri Sports Meeting, pictured with its capturer, Mike Trafford (extreme left), and his friends.
The huge halves of the pig dwarf a normal-size 75lb porker.
A dressed raffle pig, which was paraded around town in a wheel-barrow by fancy-dressed members of the Waikanae Surf Life-saving Club, helped boost the club's funds considerably.
